Event Planner Intern

About the role

MBJ Network, an organization that curates events, networking, education and entertainment experiences, is looking for an Event Planner Intern in Chicago. The internship lasts 3 to 6 months and gives hands-on experience in event coordination, logistics, vendor relations and attendee engagement. It is a 100% unpaid internship.

Key responsibilities

• Assist in planning and coordinating events from concept to execution
• Research and communicate with vendors, venues and sponsors
• Support marketing efforts, including social media promotion and outreach
• Manage guest lists, registrations and attendee communication
• Help prepare event materials, schedules and presentations
• Attend and support events, keeping them on schedule and ensuring guests and hosts are satisfied
• Supervise setup, including equipment such as sound systems and video screens, and supervise cleanup
• Collect post-event feedback and help report insights

Required profile

• Pursuing a degree in Event Planning, Marketing, Communications, Hospitality or a related field, or a Bachelor's degree in Marketing or credentials related to event planning
• Strong organizational and multitasking skills
• Excellent written and verbal communication and teamwork abilities
• Creativity, flexibility, adaptability and a willingness to learn quickly
• Ability to work flexible hours, including evenings and weekends for events

Required skills

• Proficiency in Microsoft Office
• Use of social media platforms
