Evening Floor Technician – Hospital

About the role

The Environmental Services team at Palestine Regional Medical Center is seeking an Evening Floor Technician to keep our 150‑bed facility clean, safe, and welcoming for patients, staff, and visitors during evening shifts.

Key responsibilities

• Perform routine floor care such as sweeping, mopping, buffing, and waxing in patient rooms, hallways, lobbies, and other areas.
• Operate floor‑care equipment including buffers, scrubbers, and extractors according to established protocols.
• Inspect completed areas for cleanliness and report any maintenance or safety hazards.
• Assist with moving furniture and equipment to facilitate cleaning.
• Apply appropriate cleaning agents and disinfectants while following infection‑control and safety guidelines.
• Maintain and store equipment and supplies in an organized, secure manner.
• Follow OSHA PPE and hazardous‑material procedures.
• Respond promptly to spills and cleaning requests.
• Complete daily logs documenting cleaning activities.
• Help train new floor‑care staff and support the broader Environmental Services team.

Required profile

• High School Diploma or equivalent.
• Minimum 1 year of floor‑care experience in a hospital or similar setting.
• Physical ability to lift, push, pull heavy equipment and stand or walk for extended periods.
• Basic understanding of infection‑control and safety procedures.

Required skills

• Operation of floor‑care equipment (buffers, scrubbers, extractors).
• Use of cleaning agents and disinfectants.
• Knowledge of OSHA safety and PPE requirements.
