Etch Equipment Maintenance Technician

About the role

NXP is hiring an Etch Equipment Maintenance Technician in Austin, Texas, to troubleshoot and repair hardware and process failures on dry etch tools in a 7x24 manufacturing facility. The technician also performs preventive maintenance, monitors tool performance and supports equipment engineers and process technicians.

Key responsibilities

• Troubleshoot and repair hardware and process failures on AMAT (DPSII, DPS, MxP, MxP+, IPS, Super E and 5200s), Ulvac, Gasonics, Fusion Gemini and LAM (4400 and Coronus) dry etch tools.
• Perform preventive maintenance following standardized work documents.
• Use SPC charts and FabGuard Fault Detection (FDC) software to evaluate tool performance.
• Document maintenance activities and help improve standardized work documents for scheduled and unscheduled maintenance.
• Maintain spare parts inventory and other activities supporting the area's success.
• Assist Equipment Engineers with equipment upgrades, improvements and long-down troubleshooting.
• Work with process technicians on wafer recoveries and post-maintenance qualification tasks.
• Coordinate equipment downtime with Manufacturing Leads.

Required profile

• Associate's degree (or higher) in an engineering or science discipline, or minimum 7 years of NXP (or affiliate) experience in lieu of a degree.
• Minimum 5 years of semiconductor manufacturing experience.
• Ability to stand for long periods and lift and carry objects up to 50 pounds.
• Self-motivated, able to take initiative with minimal supervision and to work in a diverse, multi-cultural team in a 7x24 environment.

Required skills

• Experience with advanced electronics, equipment troubleshooting, installation, repair and operation of semiconductor manufacturing equipment.
• Ability to read schematics and complex drawings and diagrams.
• Analytical problem-solving and testing skills.
• SPC and FabGuard FDC data interpretation.
