Equity Officer

About the role

The Equity Officer supports Saint Louis University’s commitment to an open, diverse, and inclusive environment by investigating complaints of discrimination, harassment, bias, and sexual assault involving faculty, staff, and students.

Key responsibilities

• Lead investigations of complaints of sexual assault, discrimination, harassment, and bias, preparing written reports for oversight entities.
• Advise faculty, staff, and students on their rights under federal laws and university policies such as Title II, VI, VII, IX, ADA, and ADEA.
• Develop and facilitate institution‑wide training on nondiscrimination and harassment laws, and serve as a Deputy Title IX Coordinator.
• Assist in climate surveys, identify trends, and customize training to promote a respectful, violence‑free campus.
• Review university policies for compliance with federal, state, and local nondiscrimination laws.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree with three or more years of experience conducting confidential investigations of discrimination, harassment, or sexual assault complaints in employment or academic settings.
• Demonstrated ability to exercise independent judgment, maintain objectivity, and safeguard confidential information.
• Strong communication, writing, and facilitation skills with a sense of urgency.

Required skills

• Knowledge of Title II, Title VI, Title VII, Title IX, ADA, ADEA and related equal‑opportunity laws.
• Effective project management, organizational, and analytical abilities.
• Proficiency with personal computers and standard software applications.
