Environmental Services Supervisor (Full‑Time)

About the role

The University of Miami Health System is seeking a full‑time Supervisor for Environmental Services. This leader will oversee cleaning and sanitation staff, ensuring all assigned areas meet the university’s high standards of hygiene and safety.

Key responsibilities

• Approve or recommend employee selections and evaluate performance.
• Assign schedules and duties to guarantee proper coverage, including alternating weekends.
• Train staff on cleaning methods, proper waste disposal, and handling of soiled linens.
• Ensure compliance with occupational safety regulations and communicate hazards associated with cleaning supplies.
• Maintain material safety data sheet information for the team.
• Review cleaning supply and equipment inventories and make purchase recommendations.
• Conduct regular rounds to inspect work, provide assistance during staffing shortages, and support staff.
• Assist in preparing departmental budgets aligned with goals and objectives.
• Establish and assess internal controls, ensuring adherence to university policies.

Required profile

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Minimum three years of relevant experience in environmental services or facilities cleaning.
• Knowledge of business and management principles.
• Ability to direct, manage, implement, and evaluate department operations.
• Strong leadership, motivation, and training capabilities.
