Environmental Health & Safety Specialist

About the role

Mabbett & Associates is seeking an Environmental Health & Safety (EHS) Specialist to support its Safety, Health and Industrial Hygiene practice. The role involves field work, compliance audits, and development of EHS programs for federal, state and local clients.

Key responsibilities

• Collect industrial hygiene samples following chain‑of‑custody procedures.
• Conduct compliance audits, hazard surveillance, job hazard analyses, and develop training programs.
• Interpret and apply relevant EHS and OSHA regulations.
• Update existing EHS programs or create new ones, and prepare reports.
• Travel to client sites, primarily within the DC metro area.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Science, Health & Safety or a related field.
• Minimum two years of experience in EHS or occupational health and safety.
• Working knowledge of EHS and OSHA regulations.
• Associate Safety Professional (ASP) credential or willingness to obtain it shortly after hire.
• Ability to obtain required security clearances and pass background checks.
• Physical ability to work in the field, lift up to 50 lb, and travel as needed.

Required skills

• Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications.
• Experience with industrial hygiene sampling and monitoring.
• Strong knowledge of OSHA regulations and compliance procedures.
