Environmental Compliance Specialist (Nights)

About the role

Amentum is seeking a year-round night-shift Environmental Compliance Specialist for the Spent Fuel Handling Recapitalization Project (SFHP) at the Idaho National Laboratory (INL). The specialist ensures that site-specific environmental procedures are followed during construction by overseeing subcontractors, working across construction, engineering and safety groups. At least 75% of the time is spent in the field, and the typical shift runs from 18:00 to 04:00 Monday to Friday, varying with season and construction phase. The work location is the Naval Reactors Facility in Scoville, Idaho.

Key responsibilities

• Oversee subcontractors so that SFHP environmental procedures are implemented during construction
• Perform environmental inspections, audits and field oversight of construction activities
• Identify, report and correct deficiencies and ensure compliance with SFHP environmental procedures
• Manage spill response, respond to wildlife observations affecting construction, and verify secondary containment is adequate
• Inspect construction equipment for leaks and coach craft on environmental compliance
• Manage waste streams and respond to emergent environmental issues

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree in a scientific discipline or 3 to 5 years of relevant construction experience
• Valid driver's license and U.S. citizenship (no dual citizenship)
• Preferred: technical writing skills and residence near southeast Idaho (Idaho Falls, Blackfoot, Pocatello, Rexburg)
• Ability to work outdoors in variable weather, near construction equipment, and occasionally at heights; physical demands include lifting up to 20 lbs and carrying loads up to 50 feet
• Team player with professional behaviour, and must pass a pre-employment drug test, background check and site security screening
