Environmental Compliance Manager

About the role

The Environmental Compliance Manager will lead environmental compliance and sustainability initiatives for the Cottage Grove site, partnering with local leadership and global 3M teams. This role ensures the site meets all regulatory and internal standards while fostering a culture of continuous improvement.

Key responsibilities

• Provide environmental compliance and sustainability leadership in consultation with site leadership.
• Lead projects and teams to track compliance obligations, conduct incident investigations, and close action plans.
• Set short‑ and long‑term environmental priorities, allocate resources, and define strategic direction.
• Manage performance targets, coach salaried and hourly staff, and drive employee engagement.
• Promote a full‑compliance mindset through standard work, mentoring, and efficient use of people and capital.
• Ensure adherence to all applicable standards, regulations, and 3M environmental expectations.
• Maintain on‑call availability as required.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree or higher in environmental engineering, chemical engineering, a science discipline, or an environmental health and safety field (verified before start).
• Minimum three years of environmental or EHS experience in private, public, government, or military settings.
• At least three years in a chemical manufacturing environment with knowledge of compliance regulations, monitoring, reporting, and management systems.
• One year of leadership or supervisory experience managing a team.
