Entry-Level Streetlight Technician (Non‑Union)

About the role

This entry‑level position involves installing, repairing, and maintaining municipal streetlights. No prior experience is required; paid on‑the‑job training and a weekly pay schedule are provided. The work is performed outdoors using company‑supplied tools, uniforms, and personal protective equipment.

Key responsibilities

• Operate aerial devices, bucket trucks, digger derrick trucks, backhoes, air compressors, and generators to install and service streetlights.
• Excavate ground for poles and foundations while following safety protocols.
• Maintain accurate job logs and coordinate with locating companies to identify underground hazards.
• Read and interpret construction plans, blueprints, and as‑builts.
• Communicate with traffic control, utility partners, and management throughout each project.
• Respond to emergency outages and work safely around energized equipment.

Required profile

• Must be at least 18 years old and possess a valid driver’s license.
• High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
• Ability to work 40 hours per week, with overtime and weekends as needed.
• Willingness to travel for emergency storm work.
• Pass pre‑employment drug screen, background, and MVR check.

Required skills

• Proficiency with voltmeter, power tools, and hand tools.
• Operation of heavy equipment such as bucket trucks, digger derrick trucks, and backhoes.
• Reading and interpreting blueprints and construction plans.
• Basic knowledge of power delivery components.
• Valid driver’s license.
