Entry-Level Engineer – Construction Projects

About the role

Whiting‑Turner is seeking an entry‑level engineer to support the management of construction projects across the United States. Reporting to a project manager or superintendent, you will assist in coordinating all aspects of site work, budgeting, and documentation while gaining hands‑on experience in a top‑tier general contracting environment.

Key responsibilities

• Coordinate work with owners, architects, engineers, inspectors, and subcontractors on construction sites.
• Assist in estimating, bidding, and tracking costs to manage project budgets.
• Resolve design issues, field problems, and change orders.
• Prepare contracts and purchase orders using company boilerplate language.
• Participate in meetings to address labor concerns and schedule coordination.
• Ensure work complies with quality standards, contract specifications, and safety regulations.
• Document technical, financial, and personnel aspects of each project phase.
• Review drawings, specifications, submittals, and change orders.
• Provide field support to superintendents for contract compliance and quality control.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Engineering Technology, Construction Management or a related field.
• Fundamental knowledge of engineering principles and construction processes.
• Strong verbal and written communication abilities.

Required skills

• Proficiency with scheduling software.
• Ability to read and interpret technical specifications, blueprints, and engineering/architectural drawings.
