English Language Arts (ELA) Program Manager

About the role

The State of Georgia is seeking an experienced professional to lead its English Language Arts (ELA) program. Reporting to senior education officials, the Program Manager will oversee ELA staff and drive the development, implementation, and evaluation of statewide ELA standards.

Key responsibilities

• Provide leadership and coordination for the statewide ELA standards and related initiatives.
• Align curriculum initiatives across divisions and foster collaboration with DOE divisions, local educational agencies, RESAs, and the ELA Advisory Council.
• Plan, schedule, and organize professional learning activities for teachers, administrators, and RESA staff, both web‑based and face‑to‑face.
• Develop and refine electronic and web‑based ELA resources to support teaching and learning.
• Develop, interpret, and communicate program plans, implementation guidelines, and success benchmarks.
• Evaluate the effectiveness of professional learning formats and adjust delivery as needed.
• Provide technical assistance to local agencies and state schools, and manage program budgets and fund disbursement.
• Manage contracts for support services related to standards implementation and maintain awareness of current research.

Required profile

• Experience managing education programs or curricula at the state or district level.
• Strong ability to build relationships with diverse education stakeholders.
• Demonstrated skill in budgeting, contract management, and resource allocation.
• Knowledge of Georgia Department of Education policies, state law, and board rules for ELA.
• Excellent communication and analytical abilities to document results and recommend improvements.
