Engineer‑In‑Training – Roadway (Civil)

About the role

Join Horrocks as an Engineer‑In‑Training on roadway projects, supporting the design and delivery of transportation infrastructure. This entry‑level position offers hands‑on experience in civil engineering design while working closely with senior engineers and project managers.

Key responsibilities

• Assist project managers and engineers with design tasks for various roadway projects.
• Perform civil engineering calculations, develop design drawings, and interpret multidisciplinary plans.
• Apply technical expertise to both conventional and unconventional transportation projects.
• Conduct independent research and adapt to shifting project priorities.
• Maintain compliance with Horrocks safety standards and contribute to a safe work environment.
• Collaborate within a team to deliver accurate, error‑free work products.

Required profile

• B.S. in Civil Engineering (EIT status required).
• 0–4 years of civil design experience; entry‑level candidates are welcome.
• Passed the Fundamentals of Engineering exam.
• Strong sense of urgency, self‑initiative, and ability to meet client deadlines.
• Willingness to travel occasionally for fieldwork.

Required skills

• Proficiency with MicroStation (ORD) or similar CAD tools.
• Experience using Autodesk Civil 3D or comparable design software.
