Engineering Technician V (Support Equipment)

About the role

Amentum is recruiting an Engineering Technician V (Support Equipment) for Navy fleet shore activities, CVN and L-class ships. The incumbent gives technical advice, assistance and on-the-job training to Navy, Marine Corps military and civilian personnel on the acceptance, installation, operation and maintenance of Support Equipment, including Ground Support Equipment (GSE). The position is a Contract Field Services type of Engineering Technical Services (ETS) role, with two openings: one at NAS North Island and one at MCAS Miramar.

Key responsibilities

• Provide Contract Engineering Technical Services (CETS) for SE on-the-job training and assistance on aviation programs, systems and equipment
• Deliver on-site academic instruction and on-equipment proficiency training to Navy and Marine Corps personnel, NETS specialists and other government employees
• Help the NATEC Technical Coordinator or Product Support Lead develop training plans and SE training programs
• Advise on special tools, handling equipment and test equipment, and share information on approved modifications
• Provide on-site technical support to operating units, commands and shore-based industrial activities, analyzing discrepancies in technical manuals (TMs)
• Evaluate Government Furnished Information (engineering drawings, ECPs, TDPs, maintenance and logistics support plans, IMCRs, IRACs) for accuracy and adequacy
• Evaluate maintenance occurrences, determine causes of problems and recommend corrective actions
• Analyze SE deficiencies and failures and advise on resolutions

Required profile

• High school diploma and technical training in a relevant technical field
• Three years of hands-on experience in the last five years, with at least two years at or above military E5 level or equivalent
• Preferred: previous experience as a Full Systems Quality Assurance Representative on Aviation GSE at intermediate level
• Navy A and/or C Aviation Ground Support Equipment schools or equivalent vocational training preferred
• U.S. citizenship, current Secret clearance, and an active passport (at least 90 days validity at hire); subject to a security investigation
• Willingness to work or travel to sites near weapons magazines, flight decks, flight lines, aircraft spots, combat zones and weapon-ready areas
• Acceptance of the on-site union membership requirement
