Engineering Manager - Sportsbook Backend

About the role

Hard Rock Digital is seeking a hands‑on Engineering Manager to lead the Sportsbook Experience backend team. You will own people leadership, team health, and engineering excellence for Java/Spring services that power betting, odds, and high‑throughput APIs.

Key responsibilities

• Lead and mentor a team of backend engineers, conduct 1:1s, performance reviews, and hiring.
• Partner with Product Owners, Technical Leads and the Director of Sportsbook to deliver high‑quality software aligned with product priorities.
• Stay close to the code: review pull requests, contribute to design, debug production issues, and prototype solutions.
• Own reliability, latency, and correctness of services, ensuring strong observability and on‑call practices during peak events.

Required profile

• Several years of technology experience with a substantial portion in leadership or management.
• Strong background in backend engineering, building production Java/Spring (Spring Boot) services.
• Self‑motivated, autonomous, and comfortable handling ambiguity and ownership.
