Engineering Manager – Manufacturing Plant

About the role

Lead the engineering and maintenance functions of a newly‑converted pet‑food manufacturing facility in Rockingham County, Virginia. Ensure reliable, safe, and sustainable plant operations while supporting the production of Purina dry dog and cat food brands.

Key responsibilities

• Develop, implement, and coordinate the capital budget for equipment and facility improvements.
• Inspect and advise on equipment design, evaluation, and troubleshooting across the plant.
• Oversee steam generation, electrical power, compressed gases, water, sewer, HVAC, process liquids, lighting, fire protection and other utility systems.
• Manage outside contractors to ensure compliance with sanitation, safety, quality, productivity and budgeting standards.
• Direct installation of new equipment and modifications for assigned projects.
• Lead and develop the engineering and maintenance teams through training and performance management.
• Coordinate staffing levels to meet plant objectives and maintain performance standards.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering.
• 7+ years of progressive engineering experience with people leadership and project management in a manufacturing, industrial, military or related environment.
