Engineering Lab Technician – Onsite (Torrance)

About the role

Moog’s Military Aircraft Group is looking for an Engineering Lab Technician to support environmental and functional testing of aircraft hardware on the first shift in Torrance, CA. The role involves setting up and operating test equipment, collecting and analyzing data, and ensuring a safe, controlled test environment.

Key responsibilities

• Set up and operate environmental and functional test rigs according to approved procedures and safety standards.
• Monitor test parameters, collect data, and analyze results using MATLAB, NI DIAdem, and Excel.
• Document test activities, generate plots, maintain detailed logs, and prepare data for engineering review.
• Identify and control hazards related to temperature, pressure, rotating equipment, noise, solvents, liquid nitrogen, and electrical energy.

Required profile

• High school diploma or GED; 5+ years of relevant testing, electromechanical setup, and data analysis experience.
• U.S. citizenship and ability to obtain a security clearance.
• Ability to read and interpret test specifications, technical drawings, and written procedures.
• Commitment to the highest laboratory safety standards.

Required skills

• Experience with aerospace test standards such as RTCA DO‑160 and MIL‑STD‑810.
• Proficiency with data acquisition hardware (thermocouples, LVDTs, accelerometers, encoders, current shunts).
• Use of laboratory equipment including temperature chambers, digital multimeters, milliohm meters, dielectric testers, and torque tools.
• Data analysis using MATLAB, NI DIAdem, and Microsoft Excel.
