Engineer In Training - Customer and System Projects

About the role

Puget Sound Energy's Customer & System Projects team is hiring an Engineer In Training (EIT) to perform entry-level work under the direct supervision of more experienced staff. The work helps the EIT become familiar with PSE's engineering practices and functions, and assignments may include exposure to other engineering departments so the EIT can prepare for a career within PSE. The position is listed as "safety sensitive" and is subject to pre-employment drug screening.

Key responsibilities

• Support the preparation of engineering plans, designs, specifications, standards, cost estimates, system studies and other evaluations.
• Apply fundamental engineering principles to investigations and analysis, collect and organize data, and perform background research and simple analyses.
• Assist more experienced staff in interpreting and analyzing data.
• Perform field visits to gather information for the design and construction of gas, electric and energy infrastructure.
• Support emergency response operations when needed and perform other duties as assigned.

Required profile

• Bachelor of Science degree in electrical, mechanical, civil or another appropriate engineering discipline, ABET accredited or with NCEES credentials; an EIT or FE certificate may qualify in lieu of ABET accreditation.
• Entry-level to two years of experience in engineering design, specification preparation, technical field work or system studies.
• Desired: EIT certificate, utility engineering or related internship experience, and knowledge of project cost estimating or scheduling.
