EMS Education Instructor – Classroom & Clinical

About the role

The Cleveland Clinic Akron General Hospital seeks an EMS Education Instructor to teach and supervise EMT and Paramedic students in both classroom and laboratory environments. Working under the Program Director and Manager, you will develop curriculum, conduct site visits, and ensure a high‑quality educational experience.

Key responsibilities

• Instruct assigned EMS courses, delivering lectures, lab sessions, and hands‑on skill practice.
• Maintain accurate student records, evaluate performance, and submit evaluations to the Program Coordinator.
• Conduct clinical site visits, manage inventory of program supplies, and recommend equipment purchases.
• Administer written tests, evaluate clinical/field internships, and provide one‑on‑one tutoring.

Required profile

• High School Diploma or GED plus five years of EMS experience (including at least two years as a Paramedic).
• State of Ohio Paramedic Certification and current instructor certifications (BLS, ACLS, PALS, ITLS, FESI).
• Strong public speaking, clear communication, and ability to travel between work locations.

Required skills

• Basic Life Support Instructor – American Heart Association (BLSI).
• Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support Instructor – AHA (ACLSI).
• Pediatric Advanced Life Support Instructor – AHA (PALSI).
• International Trauma Life Support (ITLS) Instructor certification.
• Fire and Emergency Services Instructor Level II (FESI) certification.
• Proficiency with instructional software and PC document creation.
