Emergency Medical Technician (Days PRN)

About the role

The Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) will provide pre‑hospital emergency medical care and transportation for sick and injured patients on a days‑only, as‑needed (PRN) schedule. You will work as part of a dedicated team at Palestine Regional Medical Center, a 150‑bed hospital recognized for safety and quality.

Key responsibilities

• Respond to emergency calls and deliver basic life support in accordance with EMT scope of practice.
• Assess patient condition, determine nature of illness or injury, and administer appropriate treatment.
• Assist in safely lifting, moving, and transporting patients via ambulance or approved methods.
• Communicate effectively with dispatch, emergency departments, physicians, and families.
• Operate and maintain medical equipment such as oxygen, suction units, stretchers, and monitors.
• Document all patient care activities accurately using electronic medical records.
• Maintain cleanliness, readiness, and inventory of emergency response vehicles and equipment.
• Support emergency room or hospital transport teams as needed and participate in quality‑improvement activities.

Required profile

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Completion of an accredited EMT program.
• Current state EMT certification.
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification; ACLS preferred.
• Valid driver’s license meeting company standards.
• Ability to work varied shifts, including nights, weekends, and holidays.

Required skills

• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
• Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) (preferred).
• EMT certification and knowledge of EMT scope of practice.
• Proficiency with Electronic Medical Records (EMR) documentation.
• Operation of medical equipment (oxygen, suction units, stretchers, monitors).
