Emergency Department Registered Nurse - Night Shift

About the role

AdventHealth is hiring a full-time Emergency Department Registered Nurse for the night shift at its Deltona, Florida facility. The nurse provides comprehensive assessment, care planning, medication administration and patient education in the emergency department.

Key responsibilities

• Conduct comprehensive assessments of patients' physiological, psychological, developmental, sociocultural, spiritual and lifestyle factors.
• Develop and implement individualized care plans, reviewing and revising them as needed.
• Administer medications and treatments accurately and safely, following physician orders and hospital protocols, and monitor for adverse reactions.
• Educate patients and families about conditions, treatments, medications and self-care strategies.
• Collaborate with medical staff and ancillary departments to coordinate patient care.
• Maintain accurate and timely documentation of patient information, care activities, interventions and outcomes.
• Ensure compliance with infection control protocols, safety standards and regulatory requirements.
• Provide emotional support and therapeutic communication to patients and families.
• Supervise and delegate care provided by other team members.
• Respond promptly to code situations and provide interventions to stabilize patients.
• Participate in continuous professional development and performance improvement activities.

Required profile

• Registered Nurse (RN) license (required).
• Associate's degree in Nursing (required); Bachelor's degree preferred.
• Fluent in English, read, spoken and written.
• Basic computer skills, including navigating Microsoft Windows-based programs.
• Ability to use abstract reasoning to assess patients, evaluate interventions and revise care plans.
• 1+ years of experience in an acute care hospital setting preferred.
• Basic Life Support (BLS) / CPR certification required; additional licensure or certifications may apply depending on the unit or state.

• EKG interpretation (based on patient; see EKG and Advanced Life Support requirements).
