Embedded Systems Software Engineering Intern

About the role

This 8‑month internship (January‑August 2027) on the Infotainment Platform Enablement team offers hands‑on experience with embedded systems, hardware‑software integration, and large‑scale diagnostics telemetry on next‑generation automotive compute platforms.

Key responsibilities

• Design and implement software application frameworks for infotainment and validation systems.
• Support hardware bring‑up and validation of ECUs, develop test utilities in C/C++ and Python, and emulate vehicle workloads.
• Debug integration issues across camera, display, audio, connectivity, and sensor subsystems.
• Collect, analyze, and visualize diagnostics telemetry data for root‑cause analysis.

Required profile

• Currently enrolled full‑time in Computer Science, Computer Engineering or related field at UIUC.
• Strong programming skills in C/C++ and/or Python and solid understanding of embedded systems fundamentals.
• Must be located in Champaign, IL and able to work onsite at the Research Park.
