Embedded Software Intern - Communications (Summer 2027)

About the role

OTTO Communications designs and manufactures communications and power management accessories for two-way radio products, serving military, law enforcement, public safety and commercial customers. Its Embedded Software Intern supports the Software Engineering team for the Communications Division in Carpentersville, Illinois, working 100% on site during the summer of 2027.

Key responsibilities

• Develop embedded C, C++ or Python code for wireless systems, mission-critical applications or physical AI systems
• Develop DSP and AI/ML algorithms for audio processing and sensor fusion
• Create or modify hardware system architectures and PCB schematics using Altium
• Build product prototypes, run lab and engineering tests, and carry out technology research

Required profile

• Currently pursuing a bachelor's degree in a relevant engineering discipline such as Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering or Computer Science
• Experience or coursework in embedded systems, C/Python programming and hardware schematic design
• A strong desire to learn and good communication skills
