Embedded Software Engineer

About the role

Join Moog’s flight systems team developing embedded software for spacecraft avionics and single‑board computers. You will design and implement board support packages, bring up new hardware, and write device drivers on VxWorks and other real‑time platforms, guiding projects from concept through integration and verification.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and maintain C/C++ avionics software on SBCs running VxWorks 6/7.
• Perform board bring‑up and create low‑level drivers for interfaces such as SPI, I²C, UART, Ethernet, LVDS, SpaceWire and MIL‑STD‑1553.
• Collaborate with electrical, systems and test engineers to integrate software with custom I/O, watchdog timers and processor peripherals.
• Define test requirements, write unit and regression tests, and support integration testing using logs, telemetry and lab equipment.
• Participate in peer code and design reviews, contribute to major program reviews and deliver technical data.
• Manage configuration using Git/Perforce, track defects in Jira, and produce user guides, design documents and release notes.

Required profile

• Minimum 2 years of professional embedded software development, preferably in aerospace or defense.
• Strong proficiency in C/C++ for real‑time/embedded systems and experience with RTOS development and debugging.
• Hands‑on experience with BSP and device‑driver development, including serial protocols (SPI, I²C, UART) and high‑speed links.
• Proven ability to troubleshoot across hardware/software boundaries and perform root‑cause analysis.
• Experience with version‑control systems (Git or Perforce) and issue‑tracking tools (Jira); U.S. person status required.
