ELSI Research Associate

About the role

The ELSI Research Associate supports interdisciplinary research on the ethical, legal, social, and policy implications of biomedical and health‑related innovations. Working within the Institute for Bioethics and Health Policy at the University of Miami Leonard M. Miller School of Medicine, the associate collaborates with faculty and cross‑functional teams to design, execute, and disseminate ELSI‑focused studies.

Key responsibilities

• Design and conduct qualitative or mixed‑methods research examining ethical, legal, social, and policy dimensions of assigned initiatives.
• Perform systematic literature reviews, scoping studies, and background research on ELSI topics.
• Carry out comparative policy and legal analyses relevant to biomedical research, health systems, or emerging technologies.
• Prepare research outputs such as reports, presentations, and scholarly manuscripts for publication and stakeholder dissemination.
• Assist in developing grant applications, including drafting research content and literature syntheses.
• Coordinate regulatory and compliance activities, including IRB protocol preparation, submission, and ongoing communication.
• Support project management tasks like data organization, documentation, timeline tracking, and interdisciplinary coordination.
