Elevator Maintenance Mechanic

About the role

UT Southwestern Medical Center is hiring a full-time Elevator Maintenance Mechanic for its Dallas campus, working Monday through Friday between 6:30 AM and 8:00 AM, 40 hours per week, with 100% on-site work and no remote option. The role works under general direction to inspect, maintain and repair elevators in on-campus and off-campus university buildings, and assists other UTSW locations as needed.

Key responsibilities

• Perform preventative maintenance, repairs and inspections on commercial elevators.
• Troubleshoot and diagnose problems in electric brakes, motors, switches and variable frequency drives.
• Clean, lubricate and adjust relays, controls, door operators and elevator pits as needed.
• Repair or replace faulty components to bring the elevator back to full operation.
• Assist Senior Elevator Mechanics in ensuring machinery meets building safety codes and equipment safety regulations.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Required profile

• High school diploma or equivalent, or vocational school.
• 3 years of experience in maintenance, inspection and repair of elevators.
• Driver's license.
• Preferred: Certified Elevator Technician (CET) certificate, International Union Elevator Certification (IUEC) Mechanic card, or Qualified Elevator Inspector (QEI).
