Elementary Foreign Language Teaching Associate/Instructor

About the role

The University Laboratory School at LSU seeks a dedicated educator to provide elementary foreign language instruction. This position blends classroom teaching with research, professional development, and mentorship of pre‑service teachers in a K‑12 demonstration environment.

Key responsibilities

• Deliver direct foreign language instruction to elementary students (approximately 80% of time).
• Participate in professional development, educational research, and curriculum innovation (about 10%).
• Supervise students, mentor pre‑service teachers, and maintain required trainings and certifications (about 10%).
• Attend school, departmental, and team meetings and perform additional duties as assigned.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in a related field (candidates with only a bachelor’s must obtain a master’s within three years).
• Valid Louisiana Teaching Certificate (or equivalent) before hire.
• Preferred: Master’s degree in a related field and three or more years of classroom teaching experience.
