Electrical Systems Operator

About the role

Amentum is looking for an Electrical Systems Operator to ensure the safe, efficient operation, monitoring and maintenance of electrical systems, with a focus on reliability and compliance with safety standards. The position is hourly and overtime-eligible, under the Service Contract Act, with a stated pay range of $50,000-$100,000.

Key responsibilities

• Operate and monitor electrical distribution systems, including substations, transformers, circuit breakers, switchgear and UPS, and control major facilities via SCADA or similar systems
• Manage power generation equipment to ensure a continuous power supply
• Perform routine inspections and preventative maintenance, and troubleshoot issues in UPS, generators and other critical infrastructure
• Respond quickly to alarms and outages, execute safe switching procedures and follow lockout/tagout (LOTO) protocols
• Follow NEC and NFPA 70E safety standards, take part in safety drills and training, and maintain logs and system documentation
• Work with engineers, technicians and maintenance staff and report system status to supervisors

Required profile

• High school diploma or equivalent
• 10 years of experience in electrical distribution systems, including at least 2 years controlling and monitoring major facility systems (UPS, power generation, SCADA)
• TS/SCI clearance with polygraph
• Ability to climb ladders and platforms, lift tools over 40 pounds, and work in hazardous electrical environments

Required skills

• Knowledge of high-voltage power distribution, transformers, circuit breakers and control systems
• Troubleshooting skills and familiarity with diagnostic tools
• Familiarity with NEC and NFPA 70E
• Preferred: associate degree or technical certificate, apprenticeship completion, experience in mission-critical or secure facilities, and NETA certification
