Electrical Power Engineer – Protection Division

About the role

ETAP is seeking an Electrical Power Engineer for its Protection Division in Irvine, CA. The role blends power system protection engineering with software development to deliver innovative solutions for customers’ electrical digital twins.

Key responsibilities

• Perform power system protection and coordination studies for assigned projects.
• Develop, validate, and maintain protective device models used in ETAP applications.
• Test existing and new software features, applying sound engineering judgment and industry best practices.
• Contribute to the continuous improvement and documentation of ETAP software.
• Provide technical support and product training to clients and internal teams.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering (Master’s preferred).
• U.S. citizenship, permanent residency, or work authorization.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills.
• Excellent mathematical, analytical, and problem‑solving abilities.
• Passage of the Fundamentals of Engineering (FE/EIT) exam or professional engineering licensure is a plus.
