Electrical Installation Engineer

About the role

Stadler is looking for an Electrical Installation Engineer in Salt Lake City, Utah, to join a team focused on designing highly efficient plans for state-of-the-art passenger trains. The engineer takes ownership of electrical subsystems and works closely with other disciplines.

Key responsibilities

• Design and integrate mechanical components for electrical enclosures, cabinets, cable ducts and harnesses
• Develop wiring overviews based on system functional diagrams and electrical schematics
• Generate concepts, specifications and other technical documentation as needed
• Analyze and incorporate local, federal and customer requirements into the system design
• Take ownership of the design, documentation and performance of sub-systems
• Integrate electrical systems into vehicles
• Conduct First Article Inspections (FAIs) for various systems as needed
• Coordinate technically with installation planning, mechanical engineering, fire protection, car body engineering and other disciplines
• Support the Procurement, Production and Commissioning departments while adhering to project schedules and budgets

Required profile

• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Electrical or Mechanical Engineering
• 0-2 years of relevant experience in railway, defense, automotive, aerospace or similar industries
• Organized approach to integrating multiple projects, testing and delivering associated documents
• Strong verbal communication and technical writing skills, effective problem solving and collaboration with cross-functional teams
• Business fluency in English; German is a plus

Required skills

• Proficiency in electrical/mechanical CAD design (e.g. Catia V5)
• Ability to interpret and implement electrical schematics is a plus
• Schematic software such as Zuken E3 or Ruplan is a plus
• PLM and ECN systems (e.g. SmarTeam)
