Electrical Engineering Co‑Op – Spring 2027

About the role

Johnson & Johnson is seeking Electrical Engineering co‑ops for the Spring 2027 term in Cincinnati, Ohio. You will work within the Ethicon Surgical Technologies team developing cutting‑edge electrical and electromechanical surgical instruments, robotics, and operating‑room equipment.

Key responsibilities

• Contribute to design, testing, and validation of electrical and electromechanical medical devices.
• Perform experiments, acquire and analyze data, troubleshoot prototypes, and fabricate circuit boards.
• Support multiple 3‑4‑month rotations, gaining experience in concept generation, firmware development, PCB design, and system prototyping.

Required profile

• Enrolled in an accredited program pursuing a B.S. or M.S. in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or related field.
• Minimum two semesters completed, GPA ≥ 3.0, and legal authorization to work in the U.S. for the full term.
• Demonstrated leadership or community involvement and interest in the medical‑device industry.

Required skills

• Analog hardware design and analysis.
• Embedded systems experience (microcontrollers, Arduino, Raspberry Pi).
• Circuit board troubleshooting and use of lab equipment (oscilloscope, digital multimeter).
• Proficiency in MATLAB, Python, or similar scripting languages.
