Electrical Engineer

About the role

Amentum, a global leader in advanced engineering and innovative solutions, is seeking an Electrical Engineer to support its Oak Ridge, Tennessee office. The role covers electrical engineering design and construction support, from assessing existing facilities to design development, and includes construction support activities.

Key responsibilities

• Survey and assess existing facilities, scope and estimate the level of engineering effort, and write reports
• Conceptual design and design development of drawings, specifications and calculation analyses
• Assistance with cost estimating
• Disposition of NCRs, assessment of existing designs, responses to RFIs and issuance of Design Change Notices (DCNs)
• Coordinate with Quality on inspections and help develop scopes of work for electrical subcontracts
• Bidding and construction services: answering requests for information, bid and shop drawing reviews, site visits, commissioning support, progress meetings and project closeout

Required profile

• BS in Electrical Engineering from an ABET-certified institution and FE license
• Three or more years of electrical engineering design experience
• Construction support experience for Title 3 activities
• U.S. citizenship required to obtain and maintain facility credentials/authorization
• Preferred: PE license, DOE experience, NQA-1 experience, Arc Flash Analysis experience, and familiarity with instrumentation and controls interfaces

Required skills

• Short circuit analysis and some knowledge of the NEC
• Knowledge of electrical systems: power system design, load centers, fire alarm, lighting, load flow studies, communications, grounding and equipment selection
• Ability to lead technical discussions with clients and author proposals and statements of work (a plus)
• Ability to produce sizing calculations and analyses/reports (desired); construction support experience desired

Work arrangement and benefits

• In-office or remote work, with a strong preference for the Oak Ridge office; remote workers must travel quarterly and use a U.S.-based secure workspace
• Salary range of $90,000 - $160,000
