Electrical Engineer I - New Grad (SEA)

About the role

Shield AI is a venture-backed defense-tech company developing the X-BAT aircraft and related systems. It is looking for an entry-level Electrical Engineer in Seattle who will own a project tied directly to the avionics development critical path, with direct mentorship from Senior Electrical Engineers and other cross-functional leads.

Key responsibilities

• Own a design that directly impacts the X-BAT system and major flight test milestones, with a senior engineer assigned as a direct mentor for technical review and professional feedback.
• Take full lifecycle ownership: concept, design, verification, integration, flight test and manufacturing.
• Circuit design for the embedded system, using analog, digital, power conversion, high-speed, FPGA, MCU and EMI/EMC techniques.
• System integration and verification.
• Environmental testing, qualification and automation.
• Debugging, root cause analysis and driving resolution.
• Design systems for high reliability, radiation, large temperature swings and high-magnitude vibration.

Required profile

• Degree in Electrical Engineering or equivalent.
• Strong technical fundamentals.
• Experience as part of an engineering team or club.
• Ability to obtain a S//SAR level security clearance is desired.

Required skills

• Electrical design software such as Altium or KiCAD.
• FPGA and MCU circuit design.
