Electrical Engineer – Hybrid (Arlington, VA)

About the role

Join Chinook Systems as an Electrical Engineer on a government‑focused team, working hybrid between our Arlington, VA headquarters and client sites. You will lead code enforcement reviews, inspections, and design assessments for mission‑critical power systems.

Key responsibilities

• Perform code enforcement design and construction reviews to ensure compliance with NFPA 70, NEC, UFC and other applicable codes.
• Conduct site surveys, code compliance inspections, witness testing, and provide quality‑assurance audits.
• Evaluate equipment selections, review submittals, test reports and manuals, and act as subject‑matter expert for power generators, UPS, EV infrastructure and mission‑critical power distribution.
• Prepare detailed reports on code enforcement activities and maintain accurate records of violations and corrective actions.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering from an ABET‑accredited program.
• At least 10 years of progressive engineering experience, including 10 years of design and construction document reviews.
• Professional Engineer (PE) license or ICC Certified Electrical Plans Examiner.
• U.S. citizenship and ability to obtain a Secret security clearance.

Required skills

• In‑depth knowledge of NFPA 70 (NEC), Unified Facilities Criteria (UFC), and related federal building codes.
• Experience with power generators, uninterruptible power supplies, life‑safety and mission‑critical power systems, and EV charging infrastructure.
• Proficiency with construction project management software, Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, Outlook, Teams, Project, PowerPoint), and mobile devices.
• Valid state driver’s license and ability to travel to client sites.
