Electrical Engineer (BOS Contract)

About the role

As part of the BOS contract supporting the Department of the Air Force's 6th Engineer Squadron at MacDill Air Force Base, Florida, the Electrical Engineer delivers civil engineering services that sustain safe, efficient and resilient installation infrastructure. The engineer designs, analyzes and executes electrical systems for buildings, infrastructure and mission-critical projects, working with multidisciplinary teams, government clients and contractors from pre-construction through warranty.

Key responsibilities

• Research, design and evaluate electrical systems and components, acting as subject matter expert on power distribution, lighting, fire alarm, security and IT systems
• Perform electrical calculations and analyses such as load studies, short circuit analysis, coordination studies and arc flash evaluations
• Develop lighting designs with photometric analysis and prepare biddable construction drawings, specifications and proposals
• Review cost estimates, technical submittals, permits and engineering standards (NEC, NFPA, IBC, UFC, UFGS)
• Conduct site investigations, coordinate with project managers, engineers and architects, and support commissioning
• Mentor junior staff, lead design reviews and RFPs, and communicate with clients, contractors and government agencies

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree in electrical engineering from an ABET-accredited program
• At least 5 years of experience in building-related electrical design
• Ability to serve as Engineer of Record and prepare/review sealed design documents
• Preferred: DoD/UFC and federal design standards knowledge, federal project experience, AT/FP design familiarity, and a PE license licensable in Florida within 6 months
• Valid driver's license and ability to hold a DoD Secret security clearance; minimal travel

What we offer

• Salary range of $115,000 - $140,000
• Regular 8-hour, 5-day work week, Monday to Friday, with flexibility to cover weekends
