Electrical Designer

About the role

Amentum, a global engineering and solutions provider, is seeking an Electrical Designer for its Oak Ridge, Tennessee office. The role covers a variety of electrical design functions, including facility models and construction drawings, and full design of building and outdoor lighting systems. The position supports either in-office or remote work, with a strong preference for the Oak Ridge office; those living more than 50 miles away may work remotely but must visit the office quarterly.

Key responsibilities

• Develop facility models and construction drawings such as plans, one-line diagrams, control diagrams, interconnection diagrams, elevations and details, schedules and bills of materials
• Design lighting systems for buildings and outdoor areas, including fixture selection and model calculations for normal and emergency lighting levels
• Assist with cost estimating and equipment summaries for bills of materials

Required profile

• Associate's degree in engineering from a certified institution
• Four or more years of electrical engineering design experience
• Construction support experience for Title 3 activities
• Ability to obtain and maintain facility credentials; U.S. citizenship is required for this location

Required skills

• Short circuit analysis experience
• Working knowledge of the NEC
• Broad knowledge of electrical systems: power system design, substation design, fire alarm design, load flow studies, communications design, grounding design and equipment selection
• Independent production of construction documentation in 2-D and 3-D applications
• Experience providing construction support or services during construction
• Preferred: DOE experience, NQA-1 experience, lighting calculation experience, familiarity with 3-D applications
