Educational Aide – Computer Lab Support

About the role

The State of Georgia is seeking a part‑time Educational Aide to support the Computer Science Division lab at Gwinnett Technical College. The role involves assisting students, maintaining lab equipment, and providing basic technical support.

Key responsibilities

• Provide oral and written reports as needed.
• Perform basic administrative and clerical tasks to keep the lab running smoothly.
• Listen to students, offer encouragement, and support their learning.
• Operate computers, copiers, and other office equipment, performing routine preventive maintenance.
• Maintain daily sign‑in logs and other program records.
• Follow supervisor direction, adhere to scheduled work hours, and observe break policies.

Required profile

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Some technical college coursework (e.g., CIST 1122, CIST 1401, CIST 2411) preferred.
• Excellent customer service and communication skills.
• Ability to lift 15‑30 lb and adapt to flexible schedules.

Required skills

• Troubleshooting virtual machines and operating systems (Windows, Linux, Unix).
• Hardware and software support, including printer and CD/DVD issues.
• Microsoft Office 2013/2016 proficiency.
• Experience with Net+, Security+, Blackboard, VMware, VirtualBox, Banner Web, and web browsers.
