Drywall Framer – Modular Housing Production

About the role

Amherstgroup is seeking an experienced Drywall Framer to join its StudioBuilt™ modular housing factory in Cuero, Texas. The role involves framing and drywall installation in a high‑volume manufacturing environment, supporting the creation of off‑site homes.

Key responsibilities

• Maintain a safe, clean work area by following plant and safety procedures.
• Lead and develop manufacturing associates and apprentices.
• Fit, cut, and fasten wallboard or sheetrock to specified positions.
• Measure, mark, and cut framing, drywall, and trim according to blueprints.
• Assemble and install steel stud framing, decorative trim, and box headers.
• Install horizontal and vertical studs, door jambs, and access panels.
• Ensure walls are square, install flashing, and apply sound and fire caulking as required.

Required profile

• High School Diploma.
• At least 4 years of relevant experience in construction, framing, or modular manufacturing.
• Ability to follow written and verbal instructions and adhere to safety practices.
• Physical ability to lift 50 lb, stand 8+ hours, and perform demanding manual tasks.

Required skills

• Measuring and marking cutting lines.
• Cutting and installing drywall and sheetrock.
• Reading blueprints and construction specifications.
• Using pneumatic nail guns, hand tools, and cutting tools.
• Fabricating box headers and king stud assemblies.
