Donor Procurement Coordinator

About the role

The Donor Procurement Coordinator supports Cleveland Clinic's Transplant Center by managing organ offers, evaluating suitability, and coordinating procurement logistics. This remote position works 12‑hour rotating day/night shifts, ensuring timely delivery of organs for transplantation.

Key responsibilities

• Comply with OPTN/UNOS documentation requirements for donor and transplant activities.
• Serve as the primary contact for organ offers from local, regional, and national procurement organizations.
• Organize and dispatch the procurement team to donor sites within required time frames.
• Coordinate air or ground transportation of organs and act as a resource for organ recovery and preservation.
• Assist in training caregivers on organ preservation and orient new residents and fellows to renal procurement processes.
• Develop and present professional education programs as needed.
• Collect, analyze, and report data on potential donors and accepted organs; enter data into the transplant database.
• Attend selection committee meetings and maintain valid licensure and required certifications.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in a science‑related field OR a degree/diploma from an accredited Nursing, Respiratory Therapy, or Paramedic program.
• At least one year of experience as an organ procurement coordinator or clinical experience in critical care or organ procurement/transplant.
• Valid license/certification as a Registered Nurse, Respiratory Therapist, or Emergency Medical Technician‑Paramedic.

Required skills

• Knowledge of OPTN/UNOS regulations and transplant documentation.
• Ability to coordinate logistics for organ transport (air and ground).
• Experience with organ preservation techniques and training.
• Proficiency in data entry and reporting for transplant databases.
