DOL Services Specialist

About the role

The Georgia Department of Labor is seeking a DOL Services Specialist to work at the Atlanta Career Center. This position supports job seekers and unemployment applicants by providing counseling, workshops, and connections to local employers.

Key responsibilities

• Interview job, program, and unemployment applicants to gather necessary information.
• Use job listings to help clients develop relevant skills.
• Develop and deliver workshops on job readiness and modern job‑search techniques.
• Build and maintain relationships with local employers to create employment opportunities.
• Assess eligibility for programs and determine ongoing participation.
• Provide job counseling to match client abilities, interests, and values with career opportunities.
• Offer career development and assessment services to align skill sets with vacancies.
• Refer clients to additional services such as counseling, language instruction, transportation, and childcare.
• Participate in required training to maintain proficiency.

Required profile

• High school diploma or GED plus two years of related experience, or an associate’s degree.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to evaluate applications and determine eligibility.

Required skills

• Knowledge of Department of Labor rules and regulations (preferred).
