Division Communications Strategist – Wisconsin DHS

About the role

The Division of Quality Assurance (DQA) within the Wisconsin Department of Health Services is seeking a Division Communications Strategist. In this full‑time position you will shape and execute external communication strategies that support DQA’s mission to protect health and safety across regulated facilities.

Key responsibilities

• Develop, review, and implement DQA’s external communication strategy.
• Lead communications for designated projects and high‑visibility initiatives.
• Coordinate provider relations, public communications, and media relations.
• Create clear, accessible content for diverse audiences, including DHS staff, licensed facilities, partners, and the general public.
• Design communications plans, standards, and guidance for policy and procedure messaging.
• Manage controlled correspondence, centralized intake operations, and constituent‑relations protocols.

Required profile

• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Experience crafting messages for varied stakeholder groups.
• Ability to work independently and collaborate across departments.
• Understanding of public health or government communications preferred.
