Dispatcher - Night Shift

About the role

Waabi is building generative AI for autonomous trucks and needs a night‑shift Dispatcher to manage missions and fleet stability from its Lancaster, Texas terminal. You will act as the operational nerve centre, coordinating crews, trucks and trailers while supporting both R&D testing and commercial freight operations.

Key responsibilities

• Curate, assign and adjust test and commercial missions to maximise fleet utilisation and meet nightly objectives.
• Monitor real‑time mission execution, autonomy health and fleet status, and act as first‑line response for incidents.
• Maintain the communications desk, keep availability status, answer the Waabi hotline and hand‑off coverage deliberately.
• Make go/no‑go decisions on truck departures, pause autonomy for critical events and notify the Test Operations Lead.
• Lead, coach and develop Fleet Specialists, overseeing assignments, performance and on‑road trainee sign‑off.

Required profile

• 2+ years experience in dispatch, fleet operations or a technical operations centre.
• Demonstrated ability to lead or supervise others, with direct‑report responsibility preferred.
• Familiarity with DOT/FMSCA regulations, especially Hours of Service.
• Experience working night‑shift or 24/7 operations desks is a strong plus.

Required skills

• Linux and computer‑terminal proficiency.
• Scripting or coding experience, preferably Python.
• Hands‑on troubleshooting of hardware and software errors.
• Use of fleet‑management, dispatch and telematics tools (e.g., Jira, Fleetio, Motive).
