Dispatcher

About the role

The Dispatcher is responsible for coordinating school bus drivers and vehicles, ensuring safe and timely transportation for students. This position monitors radio communications, handles telephone inquiries, and manages driver absences by assigning substitutes.

Key responsibilities

• Dispatch drivers and school buses according to daily schedules.
• Monitor and respond to two‑way radio communications.
• Answer, record, and route telephone calls related to transportation.
• Record absentee calls and assign substitute drivers as needed.
• Maintain accurate logs of dispatch activities and driver assignments.

Required profile

• Valid Texas commercial driver’s license with Passenger (P) and School Bus (S) endorsements.
• Minimum age of 18 years.
• At least three years of experience as a certified school bus driver.
• Ability to pass U.S. DOT alcohol and drug tests and an annual physical exam.

Required skills

• Proficiency with maps and GPS navigation to follow routes and locate addresses.
• Experience using two‑way radio communication systems.
• Strong ability to read and interpret policies, procedures, and manuals.
