Discrimination Law Investigator

About the role

The Utah Labor Commission seeks a qualified legal professional to serve as an Employment and Housing Discrimination Investigator. This hybrid position allows you to work both on‑site and remotely while investigating allegations of employment, housing, and wage violations across the state.

Key responsibilities

• Review complaints of employment and housing discrimination, harassment, denial of reasonable accommodation, and unlawful retaliation.
• Act as a hearing officer on unpaid‑wage claims and issue administrative orders.
• Interview complainants, respondents, and witnesses; gather and evaluate evidence.
• Conduct legal research and draft written determinations, findings of fact, and legal conclusions.
• Prepare concise legal decisions and orders that comply with state and federal standards.
• Respond to inquiries, deliver presentations, and provide instruction to staff or the public.

Required profile

• Juris Doctor (JD) or equivalent legal training and experience.
• Strong legal writing and analytical abilities.
• Excellent communication and interview skills.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

Required skills

• Proficiency in Microsoft Word.
• Proficiency in Google Docs.
