Director, VASS NAM Regional Controllership

About the role

Mastercard is seeking a Director to lead the Value Added Services & Solutions (VASS) controllership function across the North America region (U.S. and Canada). The role provides senior accounting leadership, ensuring consistent application of policies, controls and governance while supporting rapid business growth.

Key responsibilities

• Act as the senior controllership partner for NAM regional VASS business leaders, FP&A and product teams.
• Provide expert guidance on complex accounting matters such as revenue recognition, bundles, funds, and gross‑vs‑net assessments.
• Engage early in new VASS product launches, pricing bulletins and scale initiatives to embed controllership considerations.
• Design, implement and monitor robust front‑ and back‑end controls for VASS activities.
• Ensure compliance with Mastercard accounting policies, SOX requirements and internal governance standards.
• Identify and remediate risks related to fragmented execution and inconsistent accounting treatment.
• Serve as the primary regional owner for VASS controllership inquiries and resolve them locally.
• Partner with Corporate Controllership to apply global accounting guidance at the regional level and drive standardisation across markets.
• Produce quarterly VASS reporting packs for Corporate Controllership.

Required profile

• Professional accounting qualification (CPA, ACA or equivalent).
• Extensive experience in senior controllership or finance leadership roles within a large, fast‑growing organization.
• Strong knowledge of US GAAP, revenue recognition and SOX compliance.
• Proven ability to influence cross‑functional teams and drive process standardisation.
