Director, Strategy & Operations, Consumer

About the role

Ethos, a life insurance technology company, is hiring an AI-native strategy and operations leader for its fast-growing Direct-to-Consumer business. The role drives growth initiatives from concept to results across an expanding product portfolio, multiple channels and the full customer lifecycle, partnering with leaders across the company to champion AI adoption.

Key responsibilities

• Identify and prioritize growth opportunities across products (term life, IUL, estate planning), the customer lifecycle (acquisition, retention, cross-sell) and channels (organic, performance, paid social, TV, partnerships, referrals).
• Drive growth initiatives from concept to completion, owning some directly and enabling others, such as expanding a product into a new channel or improving retention.
• Build business cases and model unit economics (CAC, LTV, payback, contribution margin) to make data-driven go/no-go recommendations.
• Guide product, marketing, sales and engineering teams toward the right goals and priorities.
• Own quarterly OKR planning and goal-setting across all functions.
• Lead cross-functional projects spanning Product, Engineering, Marketing, Sales and Partnerships.
• Partner with leaders to reimagine how their functions operate and show how AI can drive a step change in decisions and output quality.

Required profile

• 10+ years of total experience, ideally 3+ years in management consulting or investment banking, followed by 3+ years in Strategy & Operations at a high-growth, venture-backed company or in a founding role.
• AI-native: experiments with AI personally and professionally and leads by showing what is possible.
• Operator mindset with a track record of owning and delivering end-to-end initiatives.
• Structured thinking, rapid learning, and the ability to communicate clearly between C-level strategy and operational detail.

What we offer

• US base salary range of $169,000 - $298,000 depending on role, level and location.
• Full-time remote position.
