Director, Procurement

About the role

AMN Healthcare is hiring a Director, Procurement who reports to the SVP, Finance. The role is the senior procurement subject matter expert and strategic business partner, responsible for enterprise sourcing, supplier management, procurement governance and cost optimization. It works closely with senior business and functional leaders on sourcing, supplier consolidation, demand management, contract negotiations and procurement excellence, and drives modernization through process improvement, analytics, automation and AI-enabled solutions. The position is hybrid and based in Dallas, Texas or San Diego, California.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and execute an enterprise procurement strategy and a sourcing pipeline and cost optimization roadmap focused on savings, cost avoidance, supplier consolidation and demand management.
• Manage strategic sourcing initiatives, including supplier evaluations, competitive sourcing events, negotiations, supplier selection and contract execution.
• Partner with Finance to track, validate and report procurement savings and value realization.
• Build and maintain strategic supplier relationships and drive supplier rationalization and demand management.
• Establish procurement governance, policies, controls, sourcing standards, purchasing authority guidelines and compliance requirements, and oversee supplier performance, contract compliance, supplier governance and risk management.
• Identify and mitigate supplier-related operational, financial, cybersecurity, contractual, regulatory and business continuity risks.
• Drive procurement technology, automation, analytics and digital transformation, including AI-enabled capabilities, and continuous improvement initiatives.
• Oversee procure-to-pay, purchase order and catalog management, and develop dashboards on savings, spend, sourcing pipeline, supplier consolidation, contract compliance and sourcing cycle times.
• Support supplier and contract integration following acquisitions and promote enterprise procurement best practices.

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree and 8-10 years of relevant experience, or high school diploma/GED and 12-14 years of relevant experience.
• Progressive experience in enterprise procurement, strategic sourcing, category management and supplier management.
• Demonstrated success in building procurement and category strategies, negotiating commercial agreements and delivering cost savings and supplier consolidation.
• Strong financial acumen, business case development and partnership with Finance.
• Experience establishing procurement governance, policies, processes, controls and operating models.
• Demonstrated AI fluency and experience using AI, automation and advanced analytics to improve procurement effectiveness.
• Ability to influence executive stakeholders and drive change in a highly matrixed organization.
• Preferred: experience leading procurement transformation, cross-border sourcing, supplier performance programs, acquisition integration and acting as primary procurement advisor to senior executives.
