Director, Operations

About the role

We are looking for a Director of Operations to own the complete journey of shipping books from our fulfillment centers to customers across the country. This senior role blends e‑commerce expertise with hands‑on operational leadership, driving system, process, and vendor excellence at scale.

Key responsibilities

• Order Management: Own all processes and logic in our in‑house Order Management System (OMS), collaborate with product and engineering to specify, build, QA, and release system improvements, and maintain a BI/Analytics system to monitor and resolve order issues.
• Fulfillment: Oversee the end‑to‑end fulfillment journey from receipt at two fulfillment centers to delivery, manage relationships with in‑house and third‑party 3PLs, ensure SLA compliance, and negotiate carrier rates while monitoring delivery quality.
• Procurement & Sourcing: Lead sourcing and procurement for packaging and free‑gift items, work with demand planning for accurate inventory forecasts, and continuously evaluate vendors for optimal quality and cost.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree (technical discipline such as engineering is a plus).
• 8+ years of operations or supply‑chain experience in an e‑commerce environment.
• Hands‑on experience with order‑management or fulfillment systems.
• Proven ability to work closely with engineering teams to define and ship product requirements.
• Strong analytical mindset with experience building dashboards and spreadsheets to track performance.
• Member‑first orientation and solid financial fluency, including Excel‑based modeling.
