Director of Workforce Management

About the role

The Georgia Department of Public Health is seeking a strategic leader to direct workforce management across the agency. This senior position will shape HR policies, drive talent initiatives, and ensure alignment with the department’s public‑health mission.

Key responsibilities

• Provide strategic leadership for agency‑wide workforce management, including staffing, succession planning, learning and development, and employee relations.
• Oversee compensation, recruitment, performance appraisal, benefits administration, and compliance with State Personnel Board regulations.
• Develop and maintain secure, centralized human‑resource records systems.
• Design and implement effective recruitment, testing, selection, and new‑employee orientation programs for public‑health positions.
• Collaborate with executive leadership to create workforce strategies that support organizational performance and talent sustainability.

Required profile

• Extensive experience in human‑resource management or development within a large, complex organization.
• Proven ability to lead subordinate managers and staff and to influence executive decision‑making.
• Strong knowledge of public‑sector HR regulations, compensation structures, and talent‑management best practices.
• Excellent analytical, communication, and change‑management skills.
