Director of Operations – Utility‑Scale Solar & Storage

About the role

Urban Grid is seeking a Director of Operations to lead the performance, safety and value optimisation of its utility‑scale solar and battery energy storage assets across the United States. Reporting to senior leadership, the Director will be the primary operational voice to investors, partners and service providers, ensuring transparent reporting and disciplined execution.

Key responsibilities

• Provide data‑driven insights on asset performance, risks and optimisation opportunities to senior leadership and external stakeholders.
• Own end‑to‑end operational execution across the asset lifecycle, from project onboarding through construction transition to long‑term operations.
• Champion a zero‑tolerance safety culture, embedding safety considerations into all operational decisions and vendor expectations.
• Lead cross‑functional teams and third‑party service providers to achieve reliability, compliance and performance targets.
• Develop and maintain transparent reporting frameworks, communicating performance metrics, risk mitigation strategies and continuous‑improvement initiatives.

Required profile

• Proven senior leadership experience in operations of utility‑scale solar and/or battery storage projects.
• Strong track record of delivering operational excellence in a regulated, high‑stakes environment.
• Excellent communication skills with the ability to influence executives, investors and external partners.
• Data‑oriented mindset with experience translating performance data into actionable strategies.
• Commitment to safety, compliance and continuous improvement.
