Director of Major Gifts

About the role

The Director of Major Gifts leads Khoury College’s major‑gift fundraising program, working closely with faculty and university advancement staff to identify and cultivate high‑capacity donors. Reporting to the Executive Director of Interdisciplinary Advancement, this Boston‑based position manages a portfolio of 120+ prospects and solicits gifts ranging from $100K to over $1M.

Key responsibilities

• Lead the major‑gifts fundraising effort and serve as the college’s content expert for advancement.
• Develop and execute region‑based cultivation plans for alumni, parents, and friends nationwide.
• Manage a pipeline of 120+ prospects, creating call reports and maintaining data integrity in Ascend.
• Collaborate with corporate, foundation, leadership‑giving, international, and family‑philanthropy teams to design interdisciplinary donor strategies.
• Travel to targeted regions and events to build relationships, solicit gifts, and support stewardship.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree with 6–8 years of professional experience, including at least 5 years of successful six‑ and seven‑figure gift solicitation for a nonprofit.
• Proven ability to cultivate and solicit alumni, parents, and friends, maintaining strong donor relationships.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with a data‑driven mindset and ability to work independently and collaboratively.
• Willingness to travel overnight and work evenings/weekends as needed.
